Background:
St Thomas' CE Primary School was opened in 1867. It is situated in an urban area of Stockport and serves the parish of St Thomas and the surrounding district of Heaton Chapel in Stockport. The school occupies a mixture of buildings dating from the turn of the century and from the 1960s. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered at lunchtime and after-school. These activities include netball, football, cricket, hockey and other outdoor pursuits. Choir and French clubs and a new story club have been set up for the infants. The school is also actively involved with the church and the local community. The school aims to help the children to be happy and confident in their own beliefs and ideas and to be able to communicate these ideas to others.
