Background:
The school opened in 1976 and is set in spacious grounds which it shares with the neighbouring community school. It serves the parish of St Martin's which incorporates the Murdishaw and Preston Brook areas of Halton. The school building is shared with the church and is maintained to a high standard. St Martin's provides a wide range of extra-curricular activities, which it hopes to enhance further with assistance from NOF funding. It is particularly successful in sporting activities. Pupils raise money for Catholic and national charities such as Good Shepherd and RNIB. Key Stage 2 pupils elect their own representatives for the school council which meets monthly. Strong links are maintained with the parish and the wider community including Halton Haven, the local day care centre.
