Background:

Opened in 1903 and temporarily housed within church building before moving five years later to site it presently occupies. Original building extensively enlarged; complete refurbishment in 1986. Extensive information technology facilities; ICT teaching praised by Ofsted inspectors. Facilities include synthetic sports surface, synthetic netball/tennis facility, rubber play area, large grassed area, and playground marked for netball. School enjoys 'very enviable' reputation for range of extra-curricular activities. Pupils have won many sporting trophies in recent years, including a national primary competition. The football team has also competed in the Canterbury Cup competition in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and the cricket team has regularly appeared in finals at Old Trafford. Strong links between school, parish and local community; also links with local agencies concerning recycling and pupils work to help protect the environment. 'In the true spirit of Catholicism the school and home are intrinsically linked.' Before-school care, from 7.45am; after-school, until 5.45pm.
