Background:
Lostock Hall Primary School was founded in 1974, the school occupies an open-plan building. A range of extra-curricular activities includes football, netball, rounders, athletics, art, cookery, keep fit and chess, and there is a Toast and tea-timers after-school care club. A privately run nursery, the Lostock Hall Pre-school Nursery, is on site. The school received an Excellence award from the DfES in 2001 in recognition of its very high standards. It also has Investors in People status and is a Health Promoting School. The school has also achieved the Basic Skills Quality Mark. Lostock Hall featured on BBC television recently as the first primary school in the country to have a 'fingerprint' library recognition system.
