Background:
Situated in a residential area' on the outskirts of Chester, the school is 'easily accessible by road and public transport. In addition to the national curriculum there are 23 GCSE courses, 26 A-level and AS-level courses. The school has 'good' library provision with a full-time librarian. There are 'established and successful' teams in hockey, netball, soccer, basketball and athletics and the school also offers dance, gymnastics, badminton, squash, archery, outdoor pursuits and swimming. There is a sports hall, gymnasium, playing fields and all-weather pitches. Musical 'strengths' include school bands, an orchestra, woodwind, string and jazz groups and regular concerts are held, while instrumental tuition leads to Royal School of Music examinations and there is 'regular participation' in competitions, school assemblies, presentation evenings and biennial concert tours. Extra-curricular activities include dance and drama clubs, Young Enterprise, Sainsbury Trust Education Engineering scheme, Christian Union and visiting speakers. Parental involvement is 'welcomed' at the school.
