Background:

Marple Hall School was built in 1960 as a mixed grammar in the grounds of Marple Hall, which was demolished. The two main buildings take their names from historical figures; Christopher Isherwood, the novelist whose family owned the house and Judge Bradshaw who signed the death warrant of Charles I and whose family also owned the house. It offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities. Most of the departments offer their own specialist clubs for example language clubs; the school offers German, French and Spanish and history, which has the horrible historians club. Other activities include music, school plays, Duke of Edinburgh and visits and field trips. The school aims to encourage students to achieve the highest standards, to do their best, to respect and value themselves and others and to equip them to influence their future in a rapidly changing world.
