Background:

Norbury Hall is a well-designed, purpose-built modern primary school set in attractive landscaped grounds on the Stockport/Cheshire boundary. It has 15 classrooms, a newly-built library, excellent computer facilities including a new computer suite (2003) and impressive sporting facilities, while the grounds offer a conservation area and playing fields; newly-built local authority nursery opened in 2000. Modern foreign language teaching in Year 6. The school hosts many inter-school tournaments and provides competitive sporting activities and teams for athletics, cross-country, football, rounders, pop-lacrosse, badminton and netball. It has had regular local and national success and has won the national pop-lacrosse championship in addition to reaching the finals on many other occasions. The school provides extensive and varied range of sporting and non-sporting extra-curricular activities, and before- and after-school childcare has been established on the premises for many years, which also operates during holidays; before-school care, from 7.45am; after-school care, until 6pm. There are strong links with the local community, including churches, and the school is committed to local, national and third world charity fundraising, led by the school council on which children, staff and governors are represented. Norbury Hall also maintains a strong partnership with its parental community, enhanced by the work of its parents' association. Over-subscribed, with 1.1 applications per place.
