Popular school in rural community on outskirts of Northwich; modern building, originally built in 1969, extended and upgraded; latest building extension completed in 2003 to help provide separate library and computer suite. Broadband internet connection since 2003; one computer for six pupils. Playground to rear of school extended and refurbished, adjoining fenced pond area and including a wetland/marsh and dipping platform; leads to woodland path. Over-subscribed, with 1.3 applications per place. Notable academic achievements balanced by broad and relevant curriculum, with a strong emphasis on the arts. Named as particularly successful in Ofsted annual report in 2005. Beacon status (2001); DfES achievement award (2001, 2002, 2003).
