Background:

Dates back to about 1846; extensively modernised since then: new school hall added in 1970; purpose-built classroom for youngest pupils in 1996; also library and group teaching area; ICT suite recently re-located in neighbouring former schoolmaster's house; part-time ICT teacher teaches each year-group for an hour a week. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered at lunchtime and after-school, including gymnastics, athletics, dance, swimming, cross-country and football. Raises funds for education in Somaliland, providing 'school boxes' and building a school in Burao. Over-subscribed, with 1.3 applications per place. Before-school care, from 7.30am; after-school care, until 6pm. Activemark Gold (2005).
