Background:
The school'serves the Catholic children of St Theresa's parish, although it also accepts some non-Catholic children. It is situated in Blacon, a part of Chester that is designated a 'family stress area'. St Theresa's offers a 'broad and balanced' curriculum, emphasising the subjects of the national curriculum. It has been providing extra-curricular activities for 'a number of years' and these include board games, guitar lessons, choir, gymnastics, netball and recorder, as well as infant and junior science clubs. The school caretaker was a professional footballer for Wolverhampton and runs coaching classes for the junior football team. The school has 'close links' with the parish and the community as a whole. Pupils are encouraged to fund raise for both local and national charities, and to raise money to help develop the school grounds.
