Background:
The school was built in 1969, with a separate nursery added a few years later. Essentially a Catholic school, it is situated adjacent to the Church of St Raphael's and the parish hall, surrounded by housing, fields and hills. There are several new housing developments in the area. Facilities at the school include an all-purpose floodlit sports pitch which is also used by the local community. After-school sports include French, athletics, chess, football, netball, drama and ICT. Pupils work hard to support CAFOD, the Good Shepherd Fund, local hospices, the NSPCC and many other charities. The 'Poppins' club provides care before and after school.
