Background:

Serves community of South Manchester; founded in 1970 and moved to current site in leafy suburbs of Heald Green in 1972; situated on large purpose-built campus, with infant, junior, Hebrew language, and religious education departments; spacious grounds, with playing fields, gardens, courtyards and hard court areas. Two classes per year; children mainly from Cheadle, Gatley, Hale, Bowdon, Altrincham, Sale and Didsbury. New nursery for children aged si months to five in 2006. Strong Zionist ethos; wide variety of extra-curricular activities, with choices or lunchtime and after school: choir, musical groups, various arts and crafts, sports and dance, Hebrew, and extra homework clubs. North Cheshire 'has very high academic standards, and cares and nurtures all pupils to reach their full potential. The pupil-teacher ratio means there are small class sizes and individual attention given.' Before-school care, from 8am; after-school care, until 5.45pm. Over-subscribed, with 1.2 applications per place. Beacon status (2002); DfES achievement awards (2000, 2001, 2002).
