Background:

This 'vibrant' village school is set in a 'historic rural location' serving newcomers to the area as well as many generations of local families. The Victorian buildings dating from the mid-1850s has been 'considerably improved and extended' providing three classrooms, an assempbly hall, kitchen, art area, library, office/reception area and cloakrooms. This is a 'true village school' situated at the centre of a conservation area and takes part in the village fete, art exhibitions, cricket match and church fete (complete with maypole dancing) along with the rest of the community. The headteacher's personal motto is 'winning hearts and minds' and the school is a 'very happy place' dedicated to 'discovering the talent in every child (whatever that may be), high expectations, enthusiasm, excitement and encouragement'. Sports include netball, rugby, cricket, swimming and football, for which Great Budworth recently won the Northwich and District Ellwood Cup. The school'supports local farms by including 'The Farming Year' as an ongoing curricular project and also supports the Christian Communities Ministry of Northwich, a local charity which builds Romanian orphanages, for which the school composed and recorded Carol of Romania which was broadcast on GMR BBC local radio.
