Background:
A truly rural school, Sound opened in 1876 to serve the local farming community and was extended in 1996 to include a hall and indoor toilets. Although small, the school endeavours to enable the children to participate in as many extra-curricular activities as humanly possible through the collective efforts of children, staff, parents and friends of the school. French has been introduced throughout the school, pupils are involved in sports competitions and for the last three years, Sound has reached the final of the Crewe and Nantwich Home Safety Quiz. The children sing for staff at Radbrooke Hall in Knutsford at Christmas and hold concerts throughout the year to which parents and members of the community are invited. Its children also raise money for those less fortunate than themselves. Sound is a warm, caring school where staff and children work together in an atmosphere of respect and trust, and where the individuality of the child is valued.
