Background:
Westlea is a primary school, which takes children from four to 11 years of age. It was opened in July 1962. The school has a language unit aged four to seven and a nursery class for children aged three. The school offers a variety of extra-curricular activities for children of Year 2 upwards. These include music, art, gymnastics, athletics, games and engineering club. The Westlea fundraising committee raises funds for school throughout the year. It has links with local groups on a regular basis. The school has a technology room, which has a computer suite. Computers are used in variety of situations to develop skills both within computer technology and across the curriculum. It also aims to make all pupils confident and effective communicators. Children will have the opportunity to work with a variety of media and also school will introduced them to a variety of artists and art styles. The school aims to provide for the full potential of the children so that they reach the highest standard of which they are capable.
