Background:

The Quinta Primary was opened in 1968 and is situated in a residential area of Congleton. The school is of traditional classroom design and had a one-classroom extension in 1999, making it an 11-class school. The attractive grounds include a large playing field, a wooded nature area, a new infant activity play area and quiet sitting enclosures. The school enjoys an active Friends of Quinta Association, which organises successful events and provides valuable funds for the school. A native French speaker teaches French to junior pupils as part of the curriculum. The school is proud of its extra-curricular activities, which include music tuition in brass and woodwind, violin, keyboards and guitar. Wide range of sporting activities, including tag rugby, judo, football, athletics, cricket, sailing, and wind-surfing taught by specialist coaches. The school has strong community links and children are involved in regular fundraising which provides support for children's charities. Cheshire Healthy School accreditation (2004). Sport for All lottery grant in 2003 to provide high-quality sporting tuition. Basic Skills Quality Mark (2004); DfES achievement award (2002).
