Background:
Dating back to the 1800s, the school is located in the centre of the rural village of Farndon, eight miles from Chester and five miles from Wrexham. It moved into its current buildings in 1964 where accommodation now comprises seven classrooms, a further classroom leased by Strawberries Pre-school. Facilities include a library, hall, two playgrounds and a large playing field. School teams have been successful in sport and drama. The school maintains many community links, including with the local church. Strong support from the parent-teacher association; parents encouraged to visit and work alongside staff. Children are encouraged to help others, including raising money for charity. 'The school aims to provide pupils with a caring, supportive and safe environment that helps them to develop towards their full potential.' Basic Skills Quality Mark (2002); DfES achievement award (2003).
