Background:
St Joseph's Catholic Primary School was opened in 1963 in response to the new housing development in parish of St Joseph's. The school has grown rapidly over past few years. Facilities in the school now include five Key Stage 1 classes, six Key Stage 2 classes, five new classrooms, computer suite, playground and two playing fields. Extensive grounds were development in 2003. A variety of extra-curricular activities is offered to children including French, science, art, drama, choir, cricket, netball, football and judo. Strong links are maintained with parish and partner school in Ireland as part of The Warrington Project. The school is also involved in Global Link Project, supporting a school in Uganda. St Joseph's is currently over-subscribed, with 1.5 applications per place. Recent achievements include Primary Quality Mark, Health Schools Award (2004), Basic Skills Quality Mark (2004) and DfES achievement award (2000, 2002).
