Background:
Formed in 1991 following amalgamation of Ashdene Infant and Ashdene Junior Schools; housed in three buildings in attractive and peaceful grounds, one of which to be replaced with new teaching block as part of improvements planned for late 2005. Junior department, built in 1962, has seven closed classrooms, a large hall, dining area and the school kitchen; also well-stocked school reference library. Large playground is marked out for playtime and team-game activities; also an activity course used by children at breaktimes. Double mobile classroom houses two classes. Infant department, opened in 1971, has accommodation for six classes. Spacious field maintained to high standard. Serves predominantly professional community where expectations are high. Broad and balanced curriculum. Successful sports team. Before-school care, from 7.30am; after-school, until 6.30pm. Healthy school award (2001); Investor in People status (2001).
